Illuminated Painting

Illuminating Matte Painting from City Beneath the Sea (Warner Bros. TV, 1971). Vintage original light-box matte painting constructed of wood and Masonite frame with painting accomplished in gouache on artist's heavy illustration board, affixed to the Masonite facing and frame with black gaffer's tape around the border. There are windows strategically cut out of the painting representing futuristic laboratory lighting, which would be illuminated by interior elements. Elaborate wiring and electronics present on the verso, but untested. The matte painting and frame measure 40" x 28.75" x 3." Exhibiting age, production wear, soiling and with some of the illuminating acetate windows missing. In vintage Good to Very Good condition. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
