The Cast: Steve Burton (Gary Conway), Alexander Fitzhugh (Kurt Kasnar), Dan Erickson (Don Marshall), Betty Hamilton (Heather Young), Mark Wilson (Don Matheson), Valerie Scott (Deanna Lund), Barry Lockridge (Sefan Arngrim) and Inspector Kobrick (Kevin Hagen).
The Spindrift, a sub-orbital space craft, travels through an electrical storm on its way to London. The ship crash lands in a place that looks like Earth, but with natives who are 12 times normal size. Every week the crew was terrorized by giant insects, mammoth cats, or colossal humans. The budget to this Irwin Allen production was also enormous. At over $250,000 per episode, it was the most expensive series in TV history at the time. The special effects were
fantastic, but the stories eventually ran out of steam. The audience kept waiting for the crew to repair the Spindrift and return home. Instead, the ratings shrank into oblivion.
