An ink and watercolor schematic diagram of the capsized S.S. Poseidon from the production of Irwin Allen's blockbuster disaster film The Poseidon Adventure (20th Century Fox, 1972), matted on board. The piece features annotations marking where the waterline is at different points of the film and scenes that happen throughout the ship (including “Belle Finds Entrance to Engine Room / Women Shed Most of Their Clothes,” “Linda Rogo Falls To Her Death,” “Rev. Scott Leaps To His Death,” and the deleted scene “Susan Is Raped,” which originally appeared in the novel on which the film is based).
This piece is reproduced on p. 378 of The Fantasies of Irwin Allen by Jeff Bond (Creature Features, 2019). Bond describes it as "a diagram of the action as it moves through the S.S. Poseidon...similar to a schematic requested by screenwriter Wendell Mayes early in preproduction for Irwin Allen's movie."
